We offer ample study leave to trainees who undertake further studies and encourage our staff to continually develop and empower themselves. For our CTA students studying through UNISA, we offer an academic support programme that in large measure simulates the support function of lecturers at full-time institutions. The success of the programme has thus far exceeded expectations and to date we pride ourselves on a 100% pass rate!
While we are sometimes forced by necessity to work overtime, we promote a balanced lifestyle! Thus it will definitely not be necessary to stay at the office overnight; but procure the tent nevertheless because our trainees regularly go on camping expeditions to, amongst others, Piketberg, Tulbagh and similar places where they go mountain climbing, camping, relax and just enjoy themselves.
Training is one of ASL’s mainstays and the further development of our staff is a definite focus. The training is based on the requirements of the various programmes and we provide the assurance that all competencies required by SAICA and SAIPA will be achieved by the end of the trainee program.

We use only the best service providers for training and there is an abundance of internal learning opportunities. Our mentoring programme ensures that the “on the job training” aspect of internships is not neglected. ASL provides a comfortable and friendly, yet professional environment that focuses on training and development, a balanced lifestyle, and social involvement with the surrounding community.
ASL is 100% focused on personal relationships, not only with our clients but also internally. We help each other to learn, and part of our excellent team spirit emanates from our strong mentorship mind-set. No one prevents you growing at ASL; on the contrary, there are terrific opportunities to pick and choose from!
While we only have an office in Somerset West we serve clients countrywide – from Johannesburg to the Augrabies in the Northern Cape, from Bloemfontein to the Langkloof in the Southern Cape, and in between. Most of our clients are located in the Helderberg basin, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl and we try to ensure that staff members never have to be away from home longer than four days. No-one enjoys living from a suitcase and we do our best to ensure that every staff member comes home at the end of the week!
Certainly! The directors are often on the road but when they are in the office it is easy (and quick) to approach them with enquiries. The directors’ and managers’ office doors are always open. We are regularly visited by specialists, and internal training is scheduled from time to time to bring staff up to date with best practice and with changes to legislation and systems. ASL serves clients in almost all spheres of the economy and staff members are exposed to them all, from the old dear in the retirement home to affiliates of international companies.
